Multilingualism, Mission: Impossible (VII)

Multilingualism don’t have sufficient reason for survival, so it seek help from multiculturalism. It is totally different concept, language is not culture it is but a tool of information carrier. It is like camera and culture like the scenery. Good language or efficient language like good camera it can take both clearer photo and vague photo, but bad or underdeveloped language like bad film it can only take vogue photo.  

Various cultures supply us various imagination and thinking. Only good and efficient language can promote and spread minority, culture, while to promote minority culture by minority language is inefficiency, uneconomic and impossible. For the survival of minority language is depend on the money from the mainstream culture, if the money is not enough, then it still can’t help the language, if the money is enough, then the mainstream culture will become minority language later.

The different with rationalism and multilingualism is that the former is looking for the solution of remove the barricade of language. It means that to find a best language, without any learning, everyone can communicate with others freely. Although it is only a dream or miracle, but we can do something towards this target that is learning less knowing more. While the target of multilingualism is on the contrary, it is finding more languages to force everybody learning more in order keep the funding of education industry soaring up. Finally, everybody learning the same knowledge by different language, in other word, learning more and knowing the same.

Multilingualism, Mission: Impossible (VI)

When we talking about the ‘The Chinese Philosophy of Language’ the funder of Taoist LaoZi said, “With a free mind, we can image and enjoy the beautiful universe without bearing any burden (of expression and knowing words).” Henry David Thoreau also said “idleness was the most attractive and productive business.” These ‘free mind’ and ‘idleness’ is the key factor of Science and Technology Innovation, the basic reason of world economy secular stagnation. Without Science and Technology Innovation, the economic has no incentives, the economy secular stagnation will be unavoidable.

A frequently asked question about economy is how can we find the motive power? But a frequently misunderstanding reply is ‘free mind’ and ‘idleness’. Just think about today’s academy, how can someone say a word that affect our thinking? He must endure hard learning to get his degree. Then waiting the position of lecture and professor. Finally, when he get them, all his energetic and dynamic spirit is gone. Then he can enjoy his rostrum, laboratory and research funding. Think about Socrates, Plato, Aristotle, Copernicus, Galileo, Euler, Newton and Einstein no one of them doing these before their 30’s. The reason is today’s system of evaluation, in the academy world, no one want recommend a talent youth. For the number of positions are settled, recommend other means lost job yourself. Then the only way to select a valuable individual is the degree and it come from painstaking learning, even there is nothing worth to learn. Now the multilingualism help the academy world, telling them, ‘If there is nothing worth to learn, then learn a new language.’  Of course, in the world, there are so many language to learn, throughout the life you could not finished you learning. In that case, a great clamour of ‘life time learning’ has arisen. This slogan is nothing but the jobless academy workers looking for money. They had spent their time in useless learning now they are going to push everybody lead a life like them. The academic is turned to be a sort of religion in Dark Age.

While the fact is, internet enable everybody to get the knowledge whenever he/she wanted, every university student knows the formula of 2>5 that is what they learnt in two weekend days are much more than the five weekdays.

All the Science and Technology Innovation is not from painstaking learning, they come from ‘free mind’ and ‘idleness’ while today’s academy spread a superstation that all innovation is by learning. The target no other than attracting funding and investment for themself. But the result is beaten our economy and human’s future.
