Words about Marry and Love (14-3)

Three years later, that is 222AD, 曹丕 (1) for a trifle, killed his beloved wife. When 曹植 (2) went to see his brother, 曹丕 (1) sent the pillow of his wife to曹植 (2) as a present a memorial. When he back home, 曹植 (2) wrote another famous poem we know it now as洛神赋 ‘A Poem for the Goddess of Luo River’ but at first the original name is 感甄赋 ‘A poem for feeling 甄 (3)’.Who is甄 (3)? The甄 (3) is the name of his brother曹丕 (1)’s wife that the recently killed one.

It was a long poem, if you want to read the original poem you may check these three characters in Google. Now I just translate the story of that poem. It seemed like a fairy tale. It said:

“In this year, after I visited the capital (to see his brother the new emperor. It is the routine that any high rank officer should see emperor in some years.) I return home by a cart. At the bank of Luo River, I saw a beautiful woman stood on a height of the bank. She was so beautiful. I was surprised by her shinning face and slimming body. I asked my driver, ‘have you seen that beautiful woman?’ My driver didn’t see her and he asked, ‘Can you tell me what you have seen?’

Then I told him about the beauty of that woman.

My driver said, “It seemed what you have seen is the goddess of Luo River. Her name is 宓she is the daughter of an ancient god.”

Perhaps my driver is right, soon there were many goddess come with her. As I show love to her, she show her love to me too. But as I know some goddess have poke fun at human, so I dared not getting closer. Suddenly all the goddesses disappeared. I felt so sad but I have no choice, it seemed I get lost in disappointment.”

It is a long poem and a famous painter at that time had painted the story on a picture scroll:

The strange thing is although it was called ‘A Poem for Feeling 甄 (3)’ yet throughout the poem, he didn’t say anything about甄 (3). The question is why曹植 (2) use the name of his sister-in-law for his poem? Didn’t he knew that his brother is looking for excuse to kill him? And under his brothers rule, all of the rest of their brothers was died either in secret or killed, only曹植 (2) survived.  This poem had 1091 characters, among them 260 characters talking about her beauty and 395 characters talking about her display of splendour.
