Multilingualism, Mission: Impossible (I)

The multilingualism is a policy that reconcile differences regardless of principles. Technically, it can’t be realized also.  Since human invented languages, the population of each language had never stopped in changing. In recent century, following the development of communication, the average languages is towards monolingualism. Even in Europe, the region that insist to promote multilingualism is not given equal right to every language. Many minority languages could not enrol the list of the 24 official languages are depressed by other language. The United Nations has prepared an essay writing contest to celebrate the 70 anniversary of multilingualism movement at 21 February. Yet this celebration turned to be a power competition, for all the legal languages are the most powerful six languages in the world. It is no right of other minority language. And the target is still towards monolingualism, the difference is in a hypocritical mask. It rise the power struggle in all languages.
Multilingualism add the burden of information explosion issue, The encyclopaedia of language and linguistics, page 4536 said, “more than a million specie of animal and plants have been named, but George Basally noted that three time as many inventions have been patented in the United States alone---these terms emerge present interesting challenge for linguistics.”
The really solution of language issue is rationalism. But during history, the rationalism didn’t find the right direction of language development. Without right direction, the language unification in partial area of the globe could only by power. Now the real question is finding out the right direction before the make do slogan of multilingualism. We are discussing this issue on: http://www.lingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6904
